Seville seems as if it is one big, vibrant art gallery, there is colour and interest wherever you look.
We started with a short walk to the Flamenco Dance Museum, where we enjoyed flamenco artworks, learnt about the history and styles of flamenco dance and saw the atmospheric cellars, which possibly dated back to Roman times - the architects apparently couldn't agree, but it was very old!
Next, we walked around the cathedral, trying to get a stamp for our credential. We had wanted to reserve a tour, but they were all booked out. A kind guard made a call for us and we were told to push a buzzer on the last door - another kind guard then let us in, and we saw a small part of the massive Cathedral, while he stamped our credentials.
By this time we had worked up an appetite, so we crossed the river to the markets, where our b and b host had advised we could get a good paella. There were lots to choose from, but we just pointed to the type our neighbours had, and we weren't disappointed.
A visit to the bullfighting ring and museum was next. There were many artworks on display as well as fabulous costumes and we could even stand in the middle of the ring and climb into the stands.
We walked along the river to the beautiful park of Maria-Luisa where we sat and watched the birds for a while. A night heron (?) took one little duckling and another little duckling had lost his mum... we left before anything else befell them.
The Plaza de España, built for a World Exposition and used in several film sets, was outstanding. As well as the amazing architecture and tiles, there was a lot going on - people rowing boats in the small canal, first communion photos being taken, musicians busking, flamenco dancing, horses and carriages ferrying the tourists around.
Our final treat for the day was a drink on a terrace overlooking the cathedral roofs, another recommendation from our host. A couple we met in the lift thought we were 'fancy' when we said we were going to the 7th floor, until we confessed that we weren't actually staying at the hotel...

We popped in to the cathedral to pick up a stamp for our pilgrim passports. The first plaque for the Via de la Plata (which starts in Seville and which we plan to follow for the next few hundred kilometres) was directly opposite. |

A bit easier today. My thoughts on today’s birds: Feral pigeon, turtle, Night Heron (not sure what’s in its beak) , Jackdaw, Mute Swan, feral Muscovy duck
