One week to go!
Our last long training walk took us from Ballina to Lennox and back again. This is our favourite training walk because of the variety: ocean and beaches, coastal scrub and vegetation, swamps, a couple of headlands to climb, a river walk. There are also facilities along the way, including some good cafes either end. The length can be varied by starting at different points and adding on extra parts.
The forecast was for wet weather so we didn't go with our full packs. Luckily the forecast was wrong and we enjoyed blue skies with wonderful cloud formations and moderate temperatures.
Some of the highlights included
- the silvery morning light reflected on the sand
- the chorus of frogs joining with bird call in the swamps
- the small treasures, such as a chain of caterpillars winding across the path or the water dragon darting to the side
- the flat white and pot of chai with honey at The Point cafe
- our picnic lunch under our favourite pandanus tree, overlooking the ocean
- resting our feet while watching the river bring down debris from the recent rain
Some final packing and organisation and we'll be on our way!

How is the jet lag? I’m assuming you are in Blighty before you head to Spain.
ReplyDeleteNo more jet lag, yes, we had a lovely few days in England with family.
